Well, don't say she can't have him, because she's already paid for him and stuff. Anyway, how do I say kindly to my friend that she needs to lighten up on the whips and candle wax?

id hate to tell you but having a sex slave is illegal
+ thats like illegal prostitution

but regarding your prolblem just tell her that ger sex slave is a person too
and just because she bought the person doesnt mean she can do whatever
unless her slave likes getting whipped
